March Google Search Core Update 2025
Posted 4 Days ago
The first Core Update of 2025 has concluded aptly named the Google March Core Update.
As with any Google Core Update, many sites see a lot of volatility when it comes to rankings, which coincides with dramatic drops or increases in Traffic. The last update was the December Core Update in 2024, which saw some recoveries for a small number of sites.
Writing on LinkedIn, Google posted:
Today we released the March 2025 core update to Google Search. This is a regular update designed to better surface relevant, satisfying content for searchers from all types of sites. We also continue our work to surface more content from creators through a series of improvements throughout this year. Some have already happened; additional ones will come later.
The key part of this message was the "continue our work to surface more content from creators". Many independent Content Creators have been hopeful that they'll see a much needed traffic boost from this core update.
It appears this update didn't really have far-reaching effects compared to other Google Updates.

Reason For Update: designed to better surface relevant, satisfying content for searchers from all types of sites.
Recovering From March Core Update 2024
One of the most dramatic updates in Google Search history was the March Core Update in 2024, which saw a number of sites have their traffic wiped out, included many small-to-medium sized businesses.
Since that update, we've had a number of Core Updates that have aimed to help give small sites more visibility in Google, but many are still seeing little recovery from that update.
The March Core Update in 2024 deranked a number of niche sites and pushed many of the bigger publishers like Forbes, Reddit and Quora to the top of the rankings, effectively putting a stranglehold on the top positions.
What is SeoAcorn seeing in March Core Update 2025?
SeoAcorn is a keyword rank tracker, which allows us to see the movements of sites for particular keywords.
This update however, showed very little movement among our keywords.
If we plug in the Core Update start and end dates using our History Tracking Tool, we can see what the positions of our keywords were in Google Search at the start of the update and then at the end of the update.
The news isn't all doom and gloom however; Google has said they will continue throughout the year to surface more content for quality sites.
Fingers crossed!
